Why Blog?
The article I have just read by Sarah Fallon offers examples of how blogs can be used in the primary school.
The first idea is where teachers actually use the blog and post homework, assignments or general class work. Students can then access the work and information. I believe this would be useful as students can access their work easily and allows for parents to see where their child is at and what they are learning.
The other idea I liked was carried out by a woman called Anne Davis. This teacher would get her students to post their work and older students would comment on it. Davis expresses this to be successful as it gave the students confidence and therefore allowed them to value their work more.
The article also stated some other interesting points. It suggests starting small. I believe this is a great idea so students don’t feel overwhelmed and therefore loose interest. the article suggests that it has many positive outcomes. Its cheap, easy to use, fun and accessible. Most importantly it can offer change for the curriculum allowing students to extend their skills and knowledge.
